Jeff,

Don't know what to tell you regarding the bent CB - but I'd sure like
to have one of those galvanized ones myself.....

Regarding your mainsail though, my P-15 had a similar problem when I
bought it. The previous owner had had sail slugs installed and the
folks that did the work used really large slugs (for a much bigger
boat. perhaps?). The result was that the mainsail was moved rearward
more than an inch and the sail was "baggy" with the clew all the way
at the boom end.

I opted to solve my problem by removing the giant slugs (and putting
up with the extra hassle when raising the sail) but when looking for a
solution I learned that Dwyer makes an end cap for the P-15 boom that has
eyes on it which would move the outhaul point rearward. You can see this
part online at www.csiworld.com/dwyer . Find the boom extrusion picture
and click on it - it will show you all the hardware available for that
extrusion.

Hope this helps,

Hi:

Planning to do some sailing over the holidays down at Mission Bay - San
Diego and have a project or two that I would like to tackle beforehand.
Advice or information on the following questions would be most appreciated!

1) My centerboard is bent (that way when I bought it last year). After
talking with several local metal fabricating shops, they tell me they are
not equipped to flatten it out. Does anyone know of a place in
central/southern Calif that might be able to handle this project?

My other options are to get a new one fabricated from scratch, or buy one
from IM at about $280. That seems a little steep for something with no
moving parts, but I hear the new ones are galvanized so actually an
appealing solution too.

2) The bottom edge of my mainsail extends slightly beyond the end of my
boom. This keeps me from adjusting the amount of wind that spills off the
bottom of the sail and it generally runs pretty loose. Is the aft end of my
boom missing something (like an end fitting or something that would extend
the length) or is it likely that the sail has just streched out over the
years? The boom tube (not counting the gooseneck) is exactly eight feet
long.

The sail seems to be the original 1982 equipment from Odessey and is
otherwise in good shape. Could anyone tell me the length of their boom so I
can compare?

Thanks a bunch,

Jeff Manley
