Ted,

Tahoe is beautiful this time of year, but having a desire to stay relatively
warm and dry I, for one, will admire it from shore for the next five months or
so. I love skiing at our local resort, Diamond Peak, which has beautiful
vistas of the same bays and shoreline that I enjoy sailing during the summer.
That usually sparks some cozy memories. I also enjoy looking up at the
mountains during the summer from Lollipop and remembering bright, sunny winter
days flying down the mountain in freshly fallen snow.

I have a buddy who sails a 28' Catalina and is always begging me to go out
with him. I warned him about buying a boat that needs a crew! C'mon guy,
it's 25 degrees outside! I don't believe in sailing when you have to have snow
tires on the car. I have been out when ice covers everything--every line you
handle is frozen. I 'spose I could endure that if I where out at sea and
looking forward to landing in some remote and new island with exotic lovelies
preparing a feast to welcome the sailors from afar. So far that hasn't
happened to me on Lake Tahoe.

I did hear on the news this morning that the ban on carbureated two stroke
motors on Lake Tahoe is still scheduled to go into effect this coming June.
It is looking as though there is no way that is going to be turned around.
They've been working on the ban for about three years.

Potters would probably be all right on the lake if those that did not have
engines that complied where to buddy up with someone who did. I have towed
another P-15 using my Honda 2 quite effortlessly, although in relatively calm
water. Even being quite familiar with the weather and winds of the lake, I
don't think I would venture too far away from the launch ramp without some
sort of auxiliary power. The winds of Lake Tahoe can go from nil to scary and
back again all in one day.
