It's fun using my Garmin GPS, but not nearly as much fun as practicing
dead reckoning, using maps and charts, and holding a hand-held compass.

I was in the artillery across the pond 29 years ago, and all three of
these were used daily...and I found the knowledge to be very comforting.

And I still do. Even in my back yard at night it's a thrill to look
up and determine where the celestial equator is, and to observe the
changing positions of the stars and planets.

This navigational thing, without using electronic instruments, is
something that can greatly add to your winter excitement.

Well, I'm just trying to think of relevant fun things to do until we
can get the boats back into the water.

Don't want to be a wierdo, though. Staying inside and crusing the
Potter net may be enough.
