Interesting to see that Jerry, like me, has sails NOWHERE NEAR IM's
published area.

Sail: IM's ads: Jerry's size:
Lapper 76 60
Working Jib 52 32
Main 83 67

The main, of course, has a small roach i didn't include in my
calculations. I sure wonder sometimes where IM gets those numbers. I was
pretty shocked when I ordered a working jib and opened up a shoebox
(literally) containing what looked (figuratively) like a handkerchief.

In fact, the measurements for the main are a real joke - Even with an 8-ft
boom and full hoist of the entire mast (not counting roach) you could
only get 88 sq. ft, and thats with the boom scraping on the cabintop.

Something to keep in mind anyways if you ever want to race PHRF or
whatever - get your boat rated on actual sail area, not on the IM numbers.

Another annoyance, but i still love my boat.
