Dear Bill
I purchased a sailboat from Victor and was very satisfied. After all was
said and done I had about $250.00 invested in the effort.
My son gave me a subscription to the Radio Control Boat Modeler, 100 East
Ridge, Ridgefield, CT 06877-4606. In the magazine one of their major
advertisers is Thunder Tiger that manufactures a kit standing over 4 feet
tall, much more detailed than the Victor kits, includes all hardware, rigging,
adhesives and the radio equipment. This boat is called Thunder Tiger's
"Victoria Yacht" (TTR5556). I believe Tower Hobbies (1-800-637-4989) sells
this kit without the radio for $89.99 and with the radio for $125.00. It
really looks like a great kit. If my kids don't give me one for Christmas, I
might purchase one myself.
I was being encouraged to give up sailing and take up model sailing craft. I
sold my Potter 15 and started sailing my Victor model sail boat. Believe me,
it is not as much fun as sailing the Potter 15. I repurchased another Potter
15 and only rarely consider sailing the model.
Notwithstanding the above comments, model sailing is a great deal of fun.
Pottering is just more fun.
