A friend of ours loaned us a copy. It's an okay read, not great, in my
opinion. Most of their cruising is in the Atlantic on a boat they built
themselves (plywood/fiberglass). I would have enjoyed hearing more about where
they went and how they got there rather than about their preoccupation on
finding the least expensive way to eat, dress, sail etc....

For the list member who was interested in the junk rig, you might find
portions of this book very interesting. The authors' boat had two unstayed
masts, both junk rigged with sails they made and repaired themselves. At one
point they sailed with a similar boat that was conventionally rigged and they
provide a pretty detailed comparison. My memory is that it sounds very much
like what you have heard in the comparison between the sloop and lateen rigged
Potters - equal or better off the wind, less efficient toward the wind.
