John I'm glad you know BS. when you hear it. Car dealers will give you the
same line about their pruducts. The fact is Catalina - Capri doesn't build any
easily launched or trailered cruisers. Their best competition to the P.19 is
the Capri 18. This is a well built boat that sails wery well, But the cabin is
smaller, It has a fixed keel that makes it Hard to rig, hard to launch, non
beachable. The Catalina 22 swing keel is much heavier than the P.19. You need
a tank to tow it! And a well sailed P.19 will give a C.22 a real hard time.
Also all Catalinas heel like crazy! Also here in the S.F.Area a used P.19
sells for MUCH more than a C.22. A boat with all the features of the P.19 will
be used more and is more desirable. My big Potter was built in 1974 and I sail
mostly on SF. Bay, she's rock solid and I wouldn't trade her for the world!
