Re your idea to put a couple of noodles on the cockpit rails and put
covers on them. IM already offers these. Includes split foam tubes
with double-backed tape on the cut edge and sunbrella covers with a
velcro joint. Works great & is very reasonable cost. Call Scott.

You are right, there is lots of stowage space and some extra hatches to
get at it makes it more usable. Look at how the newer 19s use the
pieces of fiberglass cutouts as hinged covers. You could do the same
thing. You may want to bond something to the back side of the
figerglass cutouts if your boat does not have any balsa core in the
larger flat areas, like the newer ones do.

I really liked your noodle idea. But then, Potterers tend to be
creative about a lot of things, as you are learning from all the helpers
