Jerry,

I guess I'm the kind of customer manufacturers like. When I needed a four-
stroke, I thought Honda was the only game in town. I shopped a bit for the
lowest price which, by the way, turned out to be International Marine, and
bought it. I sold my Tohatsu to another fellow on this list. It was well
built and dependable. If I had thought Tohatsu or Nissan made a four-stroke, I
probably would have gone to them.

By the weight you're talking about, I assume that the motor you're getting is
in the 5 HP range. I felt that was too much weight on the stern of the P-15
and went for the 2.5 HP motor which weighs, if I remember right, around 29 lb.
It does seem to have sufficient thrust to move the boat at hull speed even
against 25 MPH winds and white capped chop. I have never had the boat in
waters that have tides or currents, so I cannot say how it would perform then.
Although, as I understand, that at the altitude where I live (6,500 feet above
you guys on the bay) the motor operates at only about 65 percent efficiency.
I've never had it at sea level, so I do not know.

I'd like to hear how you find your new motor in efficiency, dependability,
smoothness and quietness. Do they make a 2.5 to 3.5 HP motor? If so do you
have any idea what the weight of that motor is? Thanks.

Thinkin' spring real hard. As I type this warning banners are moving across
the TV screen proclaiming "Winter Storm Warning tonight and tomorrow for Lake
Tahoe - Be prepared for road closures" The storm in Chicago that brought it to
it's knees dropped 24 inches of snow throughout the storm. That's the amount
we are expecting tonight alone. It won't close the schools, it won't shut my
office and it probably won't even make the news. Bunch of wooses back there
in Chicago! The only consoling fact for me is that I know that the skiing's
going to be outrageous next week and this winter's snows will melt and fill
the Lake I sail on next summer.

It is rather apparent now that there will be no more extensions and no
exceptions to the ban on two strokes on Lake Tahoe beginning this June 1.
They've even eliminated the exception for injected two strokes. All two
strokes will be banned. I will very much miss sailing with you guys who will
not be able to Potter Lake Tahoe because of this ban. I will definitely not
miss the PWC's who will not be hogging, corrupting and blasting around our
pristine Lake!

Thanks for the outboard info.
