There seems to be some confusion about P.18's VS. P.19's. There are three
models of big Potters, 1. The HMS 18's were built from 1971 to 1975, there
were less than 70 ever built. In 1977 Joe Edwards bought the company and in
1981 he dug out the old molds and started to build the Potter 19. In the old
days the motor mount was a $30.00 option, Joe made this standard and the 14
became a 15 and the 18 became a 19.The "New" P.19 had a painted keel and a
loose footed main, but the strange thing is that he started building at around
hull number 200. The HMS built Potter 19's were built to around 1993, around
hull # 755. Larry Heart bought the company and changed the name to
International Marine. The best thing he did was to hire Darrow Bishop,(A
SAILOR) as production manager. He was open to suggestions and the big Potters
were improved. Last year Darrow moved to Northern Ca. and Scott Johnson took
over (another sailor) and he is doing a fine job building our beloved Potters.
