Hi! Thanks for the wonderful ideas about repairing the split boom. I have
also been interested in the discussion on the rudder too because I will need
to repair or replace that soon too.

The boom is indeed split on the lamination. I think what I will do will be
to perform a temporary repair now so that I can sail her and then as soon as
the weather warms up, I will strip the boom (it is painted brown now -
ugh...), epoxy the split and also epoxy several dowels along the length of
the boom. I will also replace the cleat as it is too small and the screws
enter the point of lamination.
