The swing tongue has a pivot in it so you can swing about the front 30"
sideways when you store it. You have to unhook the boat from the
bowstop/winch to do so. The Caulkins customer service rep and my dealer both
assured me that the boat would be plenty stable enough on the bunks to unhook
the boat.

With the swing tongue out of the way, the practical length of the boat on the
trailer for storage is no longer than the boat itself (though the mast is
longer) My garage is 23 feet long and with the swing tongue out of the way, I
should have about four feet at the back to walk around the boat. I'll have to
duck under the mast. (I'll have to change the way the mast is transported so
that it's horizontal, no higher than the bow pulpit)

With the tongue extended and hitched to my Dodge Caravan, I will be able to
open the rear lift-back door, something I can't do with the old Dilly trailer.

At least that's the plan.

Judy
