Bill and the gang,

I too was considering adding a bilge pump, since my boat is in a slip
full time. Unfortunately the "aft bilge" is NOT where the water drains
to in my boat. On Southern Star the water collects in front of the mast
compression post, and under the V-berth seat. Most of my boat stuff is
stored in the quarter berths, so it is not a matter of improper loading.

I believe that almost all the water I find in the cabin sole is from
condensation. I figure if I can prevent this problem, a bilge pump will
not be necessary (I did just purchase a manual bilge pump for
emergencies, and for collecting the condensation water until I can get
my fan / heater hooked up).

Where on the lake is your boat going to be berthed?
