but they are in the Boat/US catalog. Pretty pricey as I recall, compared
to standard fish finders.

Yup, pretty pricey. You can get an 'INTERPHASE PROBE' forward scanning sonar
for about the cost of new sails, maybe a new trailer, a 5hp 2cy outboard, etc.
Might just be cheaper to be careful.. :)
