Ted Boyer provided me with these measurements:

Sliding Hatch Left to Right 23.5 " Base Flange to Base flange 25.0"(L. to R.)
Sliding Hatch Fore to Aft 23.0 "
Sliding Hatch 2" thick with .5" rib height = 2.5 "
All Dimensions to the Outsides only

My boat also has teak trim pieces that run alongside the hatch on each side
that are at least an inch wide. Using Ted's flange-to-flange measurement
of 25", plus two inches for the trim, gets me 27" if I'm willing to have
the panel be slightly wider than the hatch proper.

This is important to me because the panel I'm favoring is the Kyocera KC40,
40-watts and 25.7" x 20.7". Other panels in the 30-40 watt range with
similar dimensions are:

Solarex MSX-30
Solarex VLX-32
Kyocera KC35
Siemens SP36

Does anyone here have any experience with these panels? All are priced
between $209 and $247. For those of you with a further interest in the
subject, the best web page I've found for solar panel information is
Northern Arizona Wind & Sun - specifically their pricing page at
