Hi.
If you are in the area of Lake Winnipissaukee (sp?) you might consider
taking a day trip to Squam Lake 10 miles north of Lake W. (no way was I
going to try to spell that again!). It is a lot less crowded, and much less
developed. When I was up there last summer I sailed with a woman who lives
on Lake W. but comes to Squam Lake to sail. The only thing you have to watch
for are the rocks, but you can get good charts in Holderness. If you started
early and had good steady wind you could sail from Holderness (south) to
Sandwich (north) and back in one long day. There are some great beaches and
islands to stop off on, and a visit to Church Island is inspirational. If
you go on a Sunday, they have services there at the outdoor church, complete
with choir and organ. Blueberries grow in back of the altar. My nephew was
christened there last summer.
