Regarding the shrouds.
The slickest way I found to travel with the shrouds is to leave them in
place on the mast, detach them from the boat and bring them forward
lashing them to the mast every five feet or so with a bungie. They
culminate at the bow and I use a 1 foot long by 2 inch dia. piece of PVC
(of which I have two and use at the base of the shrouds to prevent the
jib sheets from fouling) to gather the turnbuckles and I then double
that back and lash this all to the base of the mast. It works quickly,
doesn't look too bad, and unpacks real fast too. It beat taking 'em off.

I'd sure take that heavy motor off too. I'd think it possible to do some
major damage if you hit any kind of a bump at any speed...
Good luck
