Hey, Y'all--

It's time for a vote. There are several fine weekends for our Tahoe sail. In
past years, we have found that there is no perfect time for everybody.
Sooo--whatever the majority wants the majority gets. It would be especially
nice if we could get as many of the Potter Yachter officers to come along as
possible, as this is normally a large gathering. This will give the
opportunity for many to meet our esteemed leaders and volunteers for the first
time as possible.

OK, so here's the possible dates. You can vote for more than one, all three
if you like. I will compile the votes and let you know which weekend can be
attended by the most:

1. August 13, 14 and 15

2. August 20, 21, and 22

3. August 27, 28 and 29

Note that these are all a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This gives those who
like to come up and rig on Friday and stay in a marina and get together for a
large "Captain's Dinner" and swap tales of far off sailing adventures to do
so. Those who cannot make it Friday can join us Saturday morning when we will
sail as soon as everybody is in the water. Well, everybody's boat, that is.
We will probably do as we have in the past. That is stay in the Marina Friday
and sail to Emerald Bay Saturday. That is about a two to four hour sail
depending on the winds and the skippers. Some might like to continue to
explore Tahoe's shoreline until evening. In the evening we will probably
anchor along the shore in Emerald Bay for more shmoosing and storytelling.
This night is camping and/or staying on your boats.

At night you will be asked to anchor in the bay, not on the shore. You don't
have to be out more than a few feet, but the Forestry Dept. gets a little
obnoxious when anchor lines are lead ashore. This makes two anchors handy to
have, although not absolutely mandatory. The lake is usually absolutely still
at night.

Sunday morning people will probably go their own way. Some may want to cruise
around and others may be in a hurry to get back to drive to wherever they have
to drive to.

So, what weekend or weekends suit you best?
