I am a rookie at boat maintenance, and thought it might be helpful to =
compile a list of things to do to the boat on a regular basis to keep it =
up. I'll bet there are plenty of lurkers like me out there who are too =
ashamed or afraid to ask. For instance, after sailing in salt water, =
should you wash the boat with the same soap you would use on a car? Use =
a brush? Wash the hull and deck? What about the lines, mast, stays, =
and shrouds? Do you just hose off the bottom paint? Should you strip =
off the bottom paint after a time or just let it wear off? Should you =
use soap on the trailer each time or just hose it off? Do you wax the =
boat hull and/or topsides? How often? How often do you flush out your =
outboard with fresh water? Do we need zinc on a trailer boat? These =
are little things that many of you may take for granted, but they are =
big things for those of us who hope to get into the water for the first =
time this spring.
