I plan on eventually getting a gps, but I was wondering how one gets
lat/long coordinates that are precise enough to use. I was looking at
some old charts I have (5 years old is the latest one) and the markings
on the borders are quite coarse. They leave a lot of latitude for error.
(sorry; couldn't resist). Do I have to interpolate to be more precise?

This of course would be for planning my course beforehand.
