Dear George,
When I received my CDI furler with the lapper my main concern was the fact that
the cotter pins were not installed inside the reel area turnbuckle. I was lucky it
fall apart in my hands not over water-take heed. When I talked to CDI about that
cotter pins and the fact it was cut too short, needing extra shackles to get the
right length, I was told to watch the angle of the retract line to prevent the
reel from riding up. This correct angle was achieved using a line guide eye,
clamped to the base of the pulpit leg. It should be noted, to make sure you have
several extra turns of retract line on the reel when the sail is full out. And
that the reel retract line be secured until needed. The person I talked to was the
owner of CDI a Mr. Chuck Angle. His phone (508) 922-2322

hello fellow potterers,
Im reading the manuel for cdi and it says when
sailing reefed
move the jib leads foward or you will get poor sail shape. it also could cause
the furler to rise off the bearing . with my previous working jib setup the
jib lead is not adjustable the sail i plan to use is an IM lapper   do i need
to add jib leads with adjustable tracks?

also they gave me 3 bulls eye fairleads and a small cleat   do i need anything
else?
and if i run the line on the port side do i have to position the cup 45
degrees
to starboard to maintain a right angle or can i just have the hole for the
line
facing aft   the instructions are confusing the #$%@ out of me !

any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated
