Oldsurfdude,

Haven't tried it in the horizontal bungee jump mode yet. Actually, it is
intended as an elastic anchor rode where you can drop the line and a kedge
off the stern about 50' off shore, motor in close enough to tie a bow line
to the beach, and let the bungee pull the boat back off the beach. Got it
from Overton's; forgot what they called it.

In theory it will not take up space in the cockpit yet allow me full range
of movement fore and aft. When I fall overboard, it will allow me enough
length to clear the prop if I'm motoring, and I'll just reel myself back in
to the boat (hand over hand). For the amount of time spent devising the
system and the amount of dinero invested, I think it's as good a start as
any.

Like to add that I always find your ideas and comments timely and very
realistic. I have pictured you in my mind's eye as being similar in
appearance and demeanor to Jerry Garcia of days gone by. You're one of the
most colorful yet knowledgeable sailors amongst us, but you tend to
underrate yourself too frequently. Maybe it's just the brevity of your
remarks. Oh well...glad to have you aboard!
