Nay, nay!! Tie each one under the bundled sail (the "bunt"), **not**
under the boom. There should never be a load on these ties/cringles,
and running the reef ties under the boom allows for such a
possibility. They *will* rip out. [BTW, it is for this usage that a
square knot earned the additional name "reef knot"]
