I've seen foresails destroyed by Florida Sun in as little as 8 months. I do
not leave foresails on furler if I do not plan to use boat within a few days.
I do use 303 "protectant" on it as sometimes I do leave lapper on furler for
more than 3 days. UV protection strip is only good if it covers all of sail
when furled. A problem with the strip is that rain gets under it and as
humidity rises breeds mold. Eventually the sail gets moldy and looks
horrible. To date I have no idea if the 303 works or not. Many of these
products are based on so much "hype" and "bs" that in reality they do not
work at all. I use it just in case but do not depend on it.

A "sock" is available from Sailrite which in my opinion is a better solution.
It keeps the sail dry and that regular black rain we get in urban areas off
the sail. Assuring a clean non moldy sail.

hello fellow potterers,
I just bought a cdi and a lapper and im very
pleased
with both, however it left me way over
budget
not to mention the price of my summer slip
my point is do I really have to have UV
protection
sewn in my lapper or will that make the sail too
heavy
I sail on the Delaware in Phila where the winds can
be
light
Sailrite has this spray protection called 303 Has anyone
used
this if so does it work thanks
