This comes a bit late, but in regard to the inquiry about small
four-stroke outboards, I thought I might mention that the Yamaha
lineup in Japan includes a 4hp four-stroke model that tips the scales
at 22 kg (48 lbs) for the short-shaft and 23 kg (50+ lbs) for the
long-shaft version. While this still seems like overkill for a canoe,
it may be of some interest to Potter 19 owners. I don't know whether
this model is already available in the U.S. but I would guess that it
will be sooner or later. Also, Tohatsu (Nissan) have announced a 6hp
four-stroke model that has exactly the same dimensions and weight as
their current 5hp. I think it weighs some 25 kg (55 lbs) or
thereabouts which makes it about 5 lbs lighter than the 5hp Honda.

But for really small and lightweight ones, the Honda 2hp that has
been mentioned here still has no equal.
