The only way to really control the height of the boom is with a boom vang and
that is also a very good safety addition. I played with the length of the
bridle but could make it work only one way as a traveller, by adding more
length you could get the sail more to leeward but I did not find a way to get
the boom to windward in light air. I now have the mainsheet rigged aft to a
fiddleblock on the tiller and I can move it to either bridle eye strap since I
don't use the bridle anymore.
