I have noticed that it appears that the blocks of foam flotation don't go
all the way back to the transom. It looks like there may be about a foot of
unoccupied space just forward of the transom. I have wondered about cutting
a circular hole and installing a plastic screw-in inspection plate on the
front of the cockpit seats, just forward of the transom in order to access
this space. This would allow access, though awkwardly, to the inside of the
transom, and the backs of the ster cleat and cockpit rail fasteners, if
necessary. I have refrained from doing this because I fear compromising the
structural strength of the cockpits seats and because I fear cutting holes
in boats, in general.

I have those same blocks - and the same question. The blocks in my boat are
not
fastened down, but are so large and ackward that they could not be removed
(with
the liner and deck in place) without cutting them into pieces.

I keep seeing references to crawling under the cockpit seats but my boat has

some rather hefty blocks of foam flotation in those spaces and I can't see
how you could move it. Don't other P15's have this foam flotation?
