I tried your suggestion for the cockpit table this
weekend, and it worked great! Even though the length
I measured and thought I needed was 31", the longest
leg I could find at Home Depot was 28". I got a wide
rubber crutch foot and a stainless wing nut as well.
On the boat, the rubber crutch foot spans the corner
it props against, making the effective length 31"!
The table was perfectly level! My wife was so
grateful that she set (what was for us on the boat) a
gourmet lunch on it - complete with dinner music! I
could even fit my knees under it - no mean feat!

have done it without you!
