The cockpit drain on Tiramisu leaked a bunch when we got her. It appeared
that a previous owner had tried several fixes without success. We
purchased a platsic thru-hull with an inside diameter of 1" and a length
of about 4" from West Marine. It came with a plastic nut. I removed the
old bits and pieces of tube and the back plate that was held on by 2
screws. I then used a rotary file in an electric drill and a hand file to
enlarge the hole so that the thru-hull would fit. I also needed to cut
off part of the flange on the thru-hull (now a "D" shape) so that it would
sit flush and low in the cockpit. The thru-hull was inserted from inside
the cockpit and the nut is outside. The flat part of the "D" shape faces
down. I used 5200 sealant to seal the whole thing (Yes I know it will
never come off!). We have never had a problem since!

Melissa thinks that moving the mainsheet aft was the best improvement we
have made to Tiramisu. See:

We used all Harken blocks on Tiramisu, the original Racelite blocks were
in very bad shape. You will probably want to add a vang if you move the
mainsheet aft. Our vang uses 1/4 line, a fiddle block with a built in V
cleat and a single block with becket (I think that make it 4-1).
