Your Potter is the same model as mine and my Potter can go 5 knots upwind.
There are some secrets to get this kind of performance out of a P. 14Buy a
new mark 2 mainsail, they are great. then rake your mast back about 2 inches
on the forestay.( this only applies to a Mark 1 Potter) Put about 20 pounds
of lead in the forepeak, unbolt your 10 H.P. motor and drop it overboard.
Replace it with a 30 pound or less model, and sit your crew foreward. that
thing in the back of the boat is a lazarette,it's for storage only.It's NOT a
seat. Pull in your main just to the inside corner of the transom, leave about
1.5 inches of belly in the jib. Then let us know how she sails. Jerry
