Mike, it sounds to me that what you are talking about IS a bilge drain, although
your description as "a screw head" makes me wonder. Mine was, (since I have lost
it), a molded plastic plug about .75 in. dia. with a kind of screwdriver slot in
the end (suitable for using a coin) for unscrewing it. It incorporated an "O"
ring seal....there is no way it is going to leak even with repeated removals
(provided you tighten it reasonably, and, as in my case, don't forget to put it
back!!!!)
