Francesca and I went for a sail this afternoon with Harry at Redwood City. We
had a good beam reach blast out the channel, both boats at hull speed despite
the difference in rigs and the fact that F. and I had the reef in the main.

Harry's lateen rig has received enough publicity and been in enough web
articles that he appears to have gained some local notoriety - As we were
sailing out the channel a largish yacht sailing the opposite direction hailed
him - "Are you Harry?". Later, when we stopped in at Pete's Harbor for some
lunch, one of the liveaboards there came over to help us tie up and look over
the Potters. Introductions were made and he exclaims "You're Harry Gordon?! I
read about you and your trip to see that old boat on the website". This guy
then whips out his cell phone and calls his wife so she can come over to meet
Harry and see the Potters. Harry, Francesca and I headed up to the
restaurant leaving the nice couple comfortably(?) seated in the cockpit of
the Tilly Lucy.

Incidentally, Harry's lateen rig beat the pants off of us going upwind - we
seemed to be making more leeway (the penalty of being reefed or having two
people aboard?) and had to make one more tack than he did.

All in all, a breezy and fun afternoon in the good company of the "famous"
Harry Gordon.
