Anyway, the waves calmed down gradually as we got closer to shore in Edenton Bay. We only motored the last 100 yards or so, and the water was very calm at the town docks. Headed in to town, and had the best shrimp and steamed clams I ever could remember up to that point.
We decided to run back to Mackeys instead of staying over, since it looked like it was calming down a bit, and the wind was supposed to switch in the morning. We took off wing on wing straight back in about 12-15 knots of wind. Everything after the trip over was a non-event. And I had my best night's sleep ever on the boat that night.
We went back to Edenton for lunch the next day, in 10 knots wind. A guy and his wife came running up to greet us. He had just bought a WWP 19 recently from the factory, and had never seen another one. He'd been out in the river in 15 kts wind, and it scared him enough to go home. I explained what we came in through the day before, and I think that gave him some confidence in his boat. There's no question the boat will take at least as much as her captain.
Now on to Ocracoke!
