I make it a practice to always tipping up the cushions in my boat (1988
p-15 sail #1342 hull#1673). I slide all the gear to one side, tip up the
cabin cushion agains the sidewall, then move all the gear to that side and
do the same on the other side, then distribute all gear to balance the
boat while it will be tied to its mooring until the next sail. This seems
to help everything dry out and avoids mildew etc., even here in the
Willamette Valley in Western Oregon where the word SUN has no meaning and
the slugs are big and happy.

When I do clean out the boat I use baking soda and fresh water. The baking
soda seems to leave a clean fresh smell, yes, just like inside of your
refrigerator. It also does a great job cleaning.
