After spending four days in the hot, humid, and windless Apostle Islands,
we've decided that we need to improve the airflow in the boat, and add
some shade in the cockpit. Nothing like a heatwave to get you focused on
what's really important - personal comfort.

For the cockpit, we plan to get a bimini - probably the 5'3" model in the
Defender catalog. The smallest bimini in the West Marine catalog is 6'
long - too long for the P-19's cockpit, I think. Any comments about
after-market biminis welcome.

For the cabin we'll add fans, but we also want to replace a pair of fixed
ports with opening ports. The v-berth fixed ports are odd-shaped - 5" high
and 17.5" wide overall. I can't find any ports that wide and only 5" high.
I'd be happy to go bigger, but there is only about 5.5" of vertical surface
area to work with right there. Replacing a pair of the larger windows is
an option, but I'd like to hear from folks who may have replaced any of the
factory ports.
