It's hard to describe verbally, but easy to do. Assuming your rings are the
same as on my fish, the part of the ring that is inserted through the loop
can be compressed with a pair of needlenose pliers and then slipped out
(Carefully). But...
It's not too unusual for the necessary spring to dissipate over time. I'd
guess that you're going to replace half of them anyway.
