Hello Bill. I had the identical problem with my Potter 14 # 494. I removed
one of the foam blocks, and created access for myself. I actually slipped
in on my back under the starboard seat and was able to slide all the way
back to the cockpit drain hole. I also drilled a 1 1/2" hole with a hole saw
in the bottom of the lazarette, all the way aft. This gave me access to
install a new brass through hull fitting. I ran a new piece of hose to
another through hull fitting installed in the cockpit floor, with an elbow
at the end of it. It worked out perfectly. The only thing I need to do is
replace the foam block(which I half demolished removing it)., and patch the
hole in the lazarette(which probably isn't important). A bonus about doing
it that way, is that I also had access to the cleats and other factory
installed fittings through the deck which can be changed or
upgraded/repaired at the same time. Good Luck with the job.
