The new improved Prozac sailed out of Elm Hill Marina Sunday, with the new
rake adjustments in place . l gave the helm to my father, an accomplished
blue water sailor who despises lake sailing, while l quited my two boys. Andy
age 8 and Joshua,age 4.
The wind was mild and constant from the NE at 10 to 12 mph. We bagan a port
tack and headed straight out of the harbour on a beam reach. After 15 mins,
my Dad remarked on the stiffness of the boat for her size.
the, off the starboard bow we saw them! A San Juan 21 and a Santana 20racing
each other. Dad fell off the beam into a broad reach to close the gap between
us then matched their tack.They were both at about 20%heel, we got to maybe
10%. And slowly we pulled awafrom them!. Dad and l passed huge grins and
winks as the two other skippers gave up the chase and veered off. The Santana
gave up last. But l could tell by the way he was trimming his sails he was
none too happy about the outcome!
