Jack,

Congratulations on your new acquistion!

There are a number of ways of raising the P-15 mast and they are all
relatively easy. The mast can be raised while standing on the foredeck (best
if boat is on trailer) or while standing on the centerboard trunk (better
balance if boat is in water).

Here's how I do it alone:
Leave the shrouds (side stays) connected all the time, disconnect only the
forestay. If you have a pulpit attach the jib halyard to it, if not, find a
way to secure the jib halyard to the stem fitting. Lift the mast with the
top sternward, set the base of the mast on the cabin-top fitting and pull (or
push, if you are on the cb trunk) the top of the mast forward. Whie you are
holding on to the mast, this is a good time to look up and check that all the
lines & shrouds are in the right places (rather than wrapped around the
mast....).Tension the jib halyard and cleat it to hold the mast up while you
go forward and fasten the forestay. That's really all there is to it.

When I first got my 15, I did a couple of rigging dry-runs in the driveway
before going to the marina.

Enjoy your new boat!
