Hi All,
Ive noticed that my boat trailers winch rope is looking a bit worn and
dirty. With that I have thought to replace it. My neighbor's powerboat
has a strap of nylon webbing (like a seatbelt) instead of rope. Do any of
you have webbing on your winch instead of rope? does this take a special
kind of rope or is it just hardware poly or nylon braid?

I have thought of replacing the rope with webbing. Is this a good or bad
idea?
Any thoughts on where to get it? How much length is necessary?

I had to replace my bow /winch rubber roller. I replaced it once and
immediately the winch rope cut right through it (roller is welded higher
than the winch and the winch is at the highest setting on the iron spar up
from the tongue of the trailer--so the rope and s hook have to go over the
roller to get to the bow mounted eye loop on the bow of the boat. I
replaced it with a yellow urethane one which solved the cutting rope
problem. The webbing would make a wide contact so not "cut" like the rope
seems to do.

Also im having similar problems with the front keel rubber roller. It is
in need or replacement and the worn rubber smears all over the white
gelcoat when I put the boat on the trailer. the problem with getting a new
one is the ends are press on metal caps not nut and bolt--Ive never worked
with these, should I just replace them with a bold and nut/washer or can
the caps be reused after I get a urethane keel roller replacement insert?
