I will need to switch to digest mode for a few days due to the
hurricane. My Potter 15 has the honored role of keeping all of my
important papers dry. She is in the garage strapped down, with a padlock
through the hatch. I'll let you all know how she fared during the
storm.

I hope you make your decisions about Floyd based on your own intelligence and
not that of the newscasters (none to be found there!). They ran amuck
through town trying to find some damage somewhere (none) so they could
broadcast some terrifying hurricane news. They finally latched on to some
surfers who described conditions as mild and not even half as bad as when a
northeaster blows through in winter. They found an old termite infested tree
by beach that collapsed from termites and blamed it on storm...

It was funny watching them standing by beach with normal swells and no wind
claiming huge waves and 50 + MPH wind. All this while tourists were walking
leisurely by.. (their hair did'nt even twitch once).

They scared living shit outa everybody in town with their multiple
exagerations...

Watch storm track with volume off and make your own decisions. Check how many
miles from you that storm is. Be carefull! on our media circus they had storm
tracks showing it headed straight for Miami, then next track would show it
headed for FL Keys, another track pointed to Ft. Lauderdale. Who can you
believe?

If it is going within 50 miles or less of your area and strenght shows more
than 100 MPH you should seek safe shelter away from storm surge and wind.

Been repeatedly through Hurricane Super Media Circus, listened to bull,
disgusted and sick of it. (You'd think I'd know better by now?) But glad it
was all exagerations. Sad for all the useless work I put in...

Good luck!
