While Lars and our friends were preping for Floyd, Yoshi Hatano, his wife,
Seako, and I chartered a 30' Pearson for an overnight to Avalon, Catalina.
Low clouds and patchy fog outward bound with only an hour of sailing with
winds from the South. Return trip the next day was low clouds and no
wind. Six miles out we changed course and headed for Huntington Beach
pier. The sun broke through and a NW wind came up to let us sail down the
coast to Newport. this was my first adventure off the coastline and a prep
run for the next trip on Pilgrim next Summer. For now I'm off to Seattle
for the weekend and then to Osaka for Fall sailing...
