The potter 19 does indeed have a Sweet Spot. I find it to be between 14
and 15 degrees. At the same time get some weight foreword to give her a clean
break at the transom. The angle at the transom is the angle you want her to
sail at. The boat will lift half the hull out of the water and this really
reduces your wetted surface. At this point you will have a half wake. When I
want to dust off a larger boat I ask my wife to go lie down in the V berth
for a while. As most other boats heel the sail area is reduced, but at 15
degrees of heel the Potter keeps her sail area. Also a P. 19 outboard should
not weigh over 60 pounds for the best sailing performance. A well trimmed and
sailed P.19 can hit 6.5 knots!
