Folks - Last weekend I made good on my promise to get Richard Leader from
grass valley to see a P-19. We met in Downtown Sacramento at the Marina.
We were late but arrived at 4:30. Richard was there and we proceeded to
set up. The boys and I were in rare form and had the motor out and on and
the mast up in about 15 min. We headed for the ramp. Nice wide affair.
Things on the water looked like a mix bag at best 10-12 jet skis were
zooming around and there was no wind (ironically, it blew at about 25
Sun-Weds this week). As I am backing the boat down in the water, Richard
tells me one guy is stuck trying to pull out. I get out and look. Sure
enough, the bottom of the ramp is mud, and it is quite shallow. Sad to
say, we did not launch (it was particularly sad because I had make quite
alot of the ability to launch just about anywhere as compared to a Com-Pac
19). To be fair, I think we could have launched, but retrieval might have
been a trick. Four wheel drive would also have solved the problem (I
think, there were a number of large trailers in the lot hooked to big
4-wheel drive trucks and SUVs. We parked in the shade and had lunch on
board. The Leaders got to see the boat and set up/take down - but no
sailing. The sandwhiches were very good, and the Leaders excellent
candidates for Potter ownwership.

P.S. Have really enjoyed postings on vehicles, hitches, rigging etc.
