Hey Potterers, haven't been on here much lately and am under different name
now, but still sailing my P-15, Top Banana, without reefs in too much wind.
Had it out in very gusty conditions recently, board down and sails up,
skimming along at near jet-ski speeds, and got slapped down by a gust to 90
degrees. Sail flat on the water, and about 9 million gallons jumped into the
cockpit. She popped back up as she rounded up, leaving me sitting in cold
water. I pulled the cork (Boones Farm I think) and slogged over to the
beach, where I let 'er drain about 10 minutes, then back out again, this time
less jib. The cabin stayed dry, it didn't quite get that far. I think the
board is oversize, compared to other Potters I've seen. Mine is 1/2 inch
steel plate, well made but possibly home made.
Think I'm gonna get a sailboard for days like that........
