Last weekend was one of the best Potter events in years! Everything went
smooth, and everyone had a great time. There seem to be a few questions about
my P.14 Breezy that Todd sailed. She is a 1974 model Mark 1 The mainsail is a
twenty year old Mark 2 sail. The jib is a 5 year old reproduction of the
original 20 footer. Todd was carrying a outboard, but he unbolted it and
placed it in the cabin before the race. Everything on this boat is stock,
when I bought her new I didn't have the money to add extra goodies. I got
used to it and never changed anything. The boat is no faster than any other
Potter downwind, however upwind she is unbelievable! She has a fifteen pound
lead slug in the forepeak, and a penny under the mast step for luck.
As far as my old HMS 18 Sunshine goes, I replaced my 25 year old
mainsail with a new one from the original sailmakers(Elliot,Patterson) a
couple of months back. and I was using I.M.'s stock lapper. I didn't remove
anything from the boat, I still had my world famous beef stew ballast, T.V.
case of beer(non alcoholic) and a jug of wine. I chose not to use my genoa
because I just don't like it. Sailing S.F. Bay there is little need for a
Genny.
I just wish that all the sailors on this list could have been there,
everything was very relaxed. It's hard to believe we actually put this event
together in a couple of weeks. Many thanks to Judy, Dory and all the others
who helped out.
