IF added weight, size, etc is a concern, don't worry about these boats. Even
the 19 is super-easy to handle for someone of all skill levels. Check this
out, ages 5 and 7:

I didn't take the sound off, so you may want to turn your speakers down if
you don't care for 'popeye the sailor man'....

Looking to buy my first sailboat and am working through that eternal
calculus: open daysailer or a boat with a small cabin. The daysailor
would offer more cockpit room, but less versatility... I am intrigued
by the Potter 15 (for all of the reasons oft cited on this forum), but
have not inspected one in person.

My preference is toward the Potter, but I am concerned that it may
prove too small or soon be outgrown. What is the length of the
cockpit? Is there room for a family of four (myself, my wife, and two
boys (ages 2 and 4)? The Potter 19 is an option, but its larger size
additional weight, and extra cost are more than this first timer is
interested in (unless I can be convinced otherwise)

Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.
