Mike,

For about four years I have been using the HONDA 5 / 4 stroke. This year
have added the newest version of the 2 HP [ in my 21 foot Bay Hen ] for
emergency "get-home" power. I'm not sure what you consider " excessive "
. I do get quite a bit of vibration with either engine at low RPMs. I
have just been chalking it off to only one piston banging back and forth in
there. A number of years ago I had a low HP Johnson with two
pistons/cylinders and it did not vibrate quite so much. I do hang a
commercial Boat/U.S. rubber mat over the motor mount to perhaps dampen the
vibes a bit as well as protect the engine mount surface from scarring .
The mat also absorbes some sound energy I think and keeps my boat from
becoming a sounding board.
