Why don't you measure circumference of oar about 1' from blade. Cut oar 1 ft.
from blade then find .016 or .06 aluminum tubing (aka aluminum extrusion)
about lenght of oars you need. insert stem of oar blade about 6 to 10" into
tubing. Insert oar handle Piece ( cut oar about 1' from tip or handle) about
6" into other end of tube and that way you get a lighter oar of the lenght
you need?

You can find Aluminum under yellow pages. In that section you wil find ads
for aluminum extrusions. These are the tubes you would require..

just a suggestion..

outboards ( I still have my Nissan for sale). I have a pair of 10ft wood
oars off an old boat that I might use, but they are heavy and I would have
to find a place to store them. Do you think they would store along the
shrouds? I have noticed this on other boats. Maybe I should just cut my
oars in half ! What do the IM oar lock sockets look like? Are they just
strap mounts? I have thought about using the rail clamp oar locks out of
Northwest River Supply. I would have to row standing with these.
