I've a tiller tamer. I've used it to hold my place while under
power. I just prefer not to use it while under sail. Properly
set up, it kept me in a lazy circle while I was setting the
sails or taking them down. I had to motor a ways one time, and
that allowed me to stand and stretch and move about the boat
carefully while motoring in a reasonably straight line. It works,
but you need to keep an eye out, of course.
